You know when you go to a specialist doctor for a very specific kind of pain/ailment that you can't fix with over the counter cold remedies or a old passed down home remedy from an old timer...the kind that is not seen by a naked eye? Only an x-ray of some type or a probe can see what the issue may be in a case like that. When all the testing and examinations of this testing are finished, you get the results of why the pain/ailment is persisting from the specialist. Our bodies are very finely detailed machines that function as a place for us to live and breathe life to the fullest and pain(s) cause them to not function properly. Like a knee for instance. Normal every day life over time can wear out parts within the area of the knee. Unless there is swelling going on, someone would not know that is an issue or pain just looking at it. But once you start moving and walking with a limp that is when others can see an issue had occurred or is ongoing. People may guess at what is wrong by without the proper testing/exam from the specialist doctor tgat deals with knees, you will not know the course of action to take for the care of your knee. It could be as simple as resting it a few days to knee replacement which requires rehabilitation after the replacement is done. Both of my parents have had knee replacements and they both had to get out of the bed within a few hours to start rehab process of learning to walk again on a rebuilt knee.
Coming to Jesus with our sinner-self, is the specialist doctor to fix the issue of the spiritual and soul part of us. He is the only healer (see John 14:6) that can do the work the right way. Once the Holy Spirit reveals the issue of sin in your life, Jesus can then start doing the work of replacing your old ways/heart with a new heart and ways. That work began immediately when we become new creatures. Psalms 51:10 says it best. "Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me." Making our spirit right with Him does not come without a price. It was Jesus's own blood that made the way for you to be able to get a new spirit. Without His blood there would be no hope to fix issues in every person that believes in Him (John 3:16) and the miracles and teachings of the Bible. Coming to Jesus in all your brokenness is a major step for every one that believes. BUT it is not the only step. The rehabilitation of our ways from our language we use to the place we go or what we watch on tv/at movies. There are many changes to be made for most depend on your life experiences.
If we do not go to the right specialist doctor to get fixed, we can read in Matthew 11 what the results will be when we die. Matthew 11:20-24 NLT "Then Jesus began to denounce the towns where he had done so many of his miracles, because they hadn’t repented of their sins and turned to God. “What sorrow awaits you, Korazin and Bethsaida! For if the miracles I did in you had been done in wicked Tyre and Sidon, their people would have repented of their sins long ago, clothing themselves in burlap and throwing ashes on their heads to show their remorse. I tell you, Tyre and Sidon will be better off on judgment day than you. “And you people of Capernaum, will you be honored in heaven? No, you will go down to the place of the dead. For if the miracles I did for you had been done in wicked Sodom, it would still be here today. I tell you, even Sodom will be better off on judgment day than you." In this passage Jesus makes it clear by giving two examples of bad sinful places/people that was already been judged as evil places. He begans this passage with denouncing anyone that had witnessed a miracle(s) by Him or experienced a miracle(s) and not repented and turned to God. He is saying here that each of them knew full well as to who He was but flat out refused to turn away from sin. In the case of knowing the truth within yourself and not believing in Jesus as the Savior and only way to God is far greater an issue than not seeing at all. Jesus laid it out clearer here. Sodom was totally destroyed by God because the amount of sin in that city. But Jesus said here if they had seen the miracles, they would have believed and the city would still be standing today. That is a huge clue to how bad it will be for anyone that rejects Him without repentance of their sins. Judgement for sins no matter how big or small they are or how big of a part you played in the sins is coming upon you, if you do not turn to Jesus Christ and believe He is the healing specialist of your spirit and soul. Humbly seek His face no matter if it is 4:06 in the morning or 9:05 at night in the place you are located. Look at where Jesus did His work of healing and teaching? It wasn't in the temple or a synagogue. It was wherever the broken people was. He will meet you just like He did them no matter where that may be.
God is reminding me of a few verses that I want to end the post on that may not make sense at first but makes prefect sense when you think about the meaning of the verses. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NLT, "Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken." This illustration in these verses gives us insight when we are close to Jesus and Him intimately. The only way to be in relationship with Them is to repent. Then the rightness of the relationship can begin.
